Life & work
Early years
Music was part of Monicki's life from the age of four. She learned Persian classical music and played the tar, but chose the experimental sciences track at high school.24 She later recalled that restrictions on women singers in Iran had kept her from considering music as a profession. In her final year of school, she abandoned two years of preparation for the university entrance exam and decided to pursue music.2
Songs and collaborators
In 2023 Monicki released “Pumpkin Latte” with Hamzeh Yeganeh, who produced the song.8 She wanted to bring her grounding in Persian music together with jazz and pop. She said she preferred to cover songs she loved rather than follow social-media trends.2 With Dina, she recorded “Belik”, a cover of a song by Taha Omrani with words by Shams al-Olama.3
She and Rian wrote and sang “Rakhte Tane Delbar”, released in 2024. They followed it with “Maashoogh E Jan” in 2025.6910 That year she sang with Omid Nemati on Pallett's “It Won't Stay the Same”, which the group composed, arranged and produced.311
Berklee and live work
Before entering Berklee, Monicki spent three semesters studying psychology in Iran. By April 2025 she was living in Boston and studying contemporary writing and production.42 She kept psychology as a minor and worked as a research assistant at Berklee's BPM Research Lab. In 2026 she coauthored a conference poster about improvisation training and how people learn patterns in sound.412
In September 2025 she sang at Let Her Sing in San Francisco.5 She collaborated with Hossein Meimani on five tracks of his live album Reng-e Farah (Live at the Warehouse), including “Bar Gisouyat Ey Jan”. The album was released in 2026.113 At Takotook in Toronto, she sang a live cover of “Bolandam Kon”. The organizers dedicated the rendition to people killed in Iran in January 2026 and to their families and the survivors.14

Today, nearly three years after making that decision—a decision that shocked my family, friends, and even my teachers—I am living in Boston, studying at Berklee, and doing what I love every single day.
immersed in music from the age of four.
I chose the experimental sciences track in high school.
However, due to the significant restrictions on female musicians in Iran, particularly female singers, I never seriously considered pursuing music as a university major or a professional career, despite my deep love for it.
In my final year of high school, with less than a year until the Konkur, I made the bold decision to abandon two years of relentless academic preparation and follow my heart.
My goal is to create music that blends the richness of Middle Eastern traditions with the expressive freedom of jazz and the accessibility of pop.
As a singer, I’ve always believed that any cover I share should first and foremost resonate with me.
While gaining a large following can be exciting for any artist, I’ve always prioritized attracting a loyal, art-loving audience over simply chasing numbers. There were many viral trends that could have boosted my visibility, but they never aligned with the way I wanted to grow as an artist.
Today, I’m pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Writing and Production at Berklee College of Music,
