Life & work
Beginnings
Keyboardist and producer Mohammad Shariat and guitarist Majid Heidari began Jetpack as a duo. Arian Shariat, who also records as Rian, later joined them as singer and songwriter. They added drums and electronic percussion for live shows.5116
The group began with two Persian singles before turning to English with “Forbidden Love”. In May 2019, they released the self-produced Joystick EP, bringing that song together with five others.512
Persian collaborations
In June 2020, Jetpack released “Noghteh Ha” with the singer Sanam Maroufkhani.13 Later that year, the group contributed a set to Gate of Tehran, a virtual festival that brought together live performances and recorded sets.1415
With Kafi Nist, released in April 2022, Jetpack returned to mostly Persian lyrics and worked with singers from different musical backgrounds.910 Makan Ashgvari, Sharyar and Golsa joined the band on the album. Golsa wrote the music and words for “Khakestar Shod”, which Mohammad Shariat produced.1617
Ali Eshqi recommended Kafi Nist in beehype’s selection of Iranian albums from 2022. Radio host Siavash Rokni included it in his own year-end choices for CISM.1819
Later work
In January–February 2025, Jetpack performed in the Bijar series, organized by Made in Iran and 8Box; its performance of “Kafi Nist” was filmed for the series.10 That April, the band released “Joone Jaddet”, composed by Arian and Mohammad Shariat.2021
